What I Did In The Morning

IALT: Write a reflection about what I did this morning.

Hi everyone in the morning. I had to film a movie for manaiakalani. And we just started filming. Because we had to film asking people question about fitness. Like why is fitness important. And I was one of those person who had to answer that and I said that it can help us with our growth mindset. But what I found challenging about it is when I had to think of an answer and it was hard. But what I liked about it is when I was in the film. And the other people had to answer as well but they came up with their own answer. Well that is all I have for you.

Thank you.

Warrior End Season With 9 Losses In A Row

The Warriors have finished the 2017 NRL season with a 9 loss streak after losing their final game.
Their season ended with a 28-16 loss to the Wests Tigers on Sunday.
The Warriors finished the season in 13th position to miss the top eight for a sixth straight year.
Not even the presence of ex-New Zealand national coach Stephen Kearney and superstars Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Kieran Foran, Shaun Johnson and Issac Luke has had an impact.

World's First Mobile phone Museum Opened

IALT: Write a reflection based on a article I read.

World's First Mobile phone Museum Opened
A new mobile phone museum has opened in Slovakia.
Tourists who visit the vintage cellphone museum will have a trip down memory lane – to when cellphones weighed more than today’s computers and most people couldn’t afford them.
Twenty-six year-old online marketing specialist Stefan Polgari began his collection more than two years ago when he bought a stock of old cellphones online. Today, his collection boasts some 1,500 models, or 3,500 pieces when counting duplicates.
The museum, which takes up two rooms in his house in the small eastern town of Dobsina, opened last year.
The collection includes the Nokia 3310, which recently got a facelift and re-release, as well as a fully functional, 20-year old, brick-like Siemens S4 model, which cost a whopping 23,000 Slovak koruna (NZD$1200) – more than twice the average monthly wage in Slovakia when it came out.
“It’s hard to say which phone is most valuable to me, perhaps the Nokia 350i Star Wars edition,” said Mr Polgari – who uses an iPhone in his daily life.

Hi everyone at maths time I had to learn the sets of a fraction. And it was hard because I had to try and figure out what was the answer about. And what I found challenging is that when I had to try and figure out the answer. But when I found out that it was challenging I started to use a different strategie. And it was using Multiplication and Division. It was fun working on this because I like working on fractions and when I grow up I want to learn about fractions and other subjects. Well that is all I have for you.

Tongan Language Week

IALT: Write a reflection based on a article I read.

Today marks the start of Tongan Language Week, celebrating the ethnicity of more than 60,000 islanders living in New Zealand.
The official launch was held by the Ministry for Pacific Peoples in Auckland on Sunday night.
The week was about celebrating the language at home and with family. This year’s theme is ‘Fakakoloa Aotearoa ‘Aki ‘Ae Nofo ‘A Kainga’ or ‘Enriching Aotearoa with our Family Values’.
Tongans are the third largest Pacific population in the country, and although the number of Tongans has grown since 2001, their use of the Tongan language has dropped from 57 percent to 53 percent.
Events are being held around the country until Saturday 9 September.

Mexico’s Sugar Tax Reduces Soft Drink Sales

IALT: Write a reflection about an article what I read.

A Mexican tax on sugar-sweetened beverages has cut soft-drink sales by 6 percent, according to a new report.
The data, taken from the National Income and Expenditure Surveys across the years before and after the tax, found the reductions were higher among lower-income households, residents living in urban areas, and households with children.
The study also found after the tax was implemented there was a 16 percent increase in low and middle-income households purchasing water.
In 2016 The New Zealand Government ruled out a sugar tax, but said it would keep a close watch for emerging evidence that it was effective overseas.
More than 70 percent of Mexico’s population is either overweight or obese.

Hurricane Irma HIts Caribbian

IALT: Write about a reflection I read.

Hurricane Irma has caused widespread destruction across the Caribbean.
Irma, a category five hurricane, the highest possible level, hit the area over the last few days.
More than half of the island’s three million residents were without power as Irma caused heavy downpours and strong winds. Officials have said that power could be cut off for several days.
With the scale of the damage still emerging the death toll is likely to rise from the current number of 7.
The most Atlantic powerful storm in a decade had wind speeds of 295 km/h

The small island of Barbuda is said to be “barely habitable” while officials warn that the French territory of St Martin is almost destroyed.

Kiwican Reflection

IALT: Write a reflection about what I did at kiwi can.

Hi everyone at kiwi can we played a exercise game. And it was the handshake. Me and my buddy Siale failed coming up with our handshake because we couldn't think of what to do for our handshake. The after that we had a little talk about dealing with challenges. And that was our focus for this week and the next 2 or 3 weeks. And the way to deal with challenges is to face them and get it done. Then after that we had to do an activity. And the activity was called fruit salad. It was a very cool game because if the caller calls your fruit for example apple. You have to stand and run to another chair but if you are the last one then you have to dance for 10 seconds. Well that is all I have for you.

Thank you.

Kiwi Sport Reflection

WALT: Write a reflection about kiwisport

Hi everyone at kiwisport I did Hip Hop. It was fun because when we were at Hip Hop We had to be in groups so we can come up with a dance routine. I never liked my group but I had to contribute with them which is what I did. And when I contributed with my group we started tao talk about what to do first. And what we did first is that we did the Smurf. And when we got that we came up with another dance move and we started to go on and on. And when we got all our dance move right we had to put them all together. Which what we did. And it was amazing because when my group started to dance we did it together. And it looked very cool. And when we finished we had to go back down the mat and watch the other groups do their dance. And what I liked about it is that it was cool because the other groups did some amazing dance moves. By the way what I found amazing about Hip Hop is when we had to dance. Well that is all I have for you.

Thank you.
