Dogs Turn Blue In India

IALT: Write a reflection based on a article I read.
Dogs Turn Blue
Dogs in the Indian city of Mumbai are turning blue.
Experts believe it is due to dyes being discharged by businesses into a nearby river.
It was thought stray dogs were turning blue after wading into the Kasadi River, near the Taloja industrial area, to get food.
The area has nearly 1000 pharmaceutical, food and engineering factories.
Concerns were raised by Arati Chauhan, head of the Navi Mumbai Animal Protection Cell, who posted pictures online of one dog whose fur had been dyed blue.
A complaint has been laid with the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, which said the dogs that turned blue had gone into the river near the site of a company that used blue dye for a range of purposes.
The company had also been told to immediately remove the dye it was discharging.

All Blacks Break World Records In Aussie Win

IALT: Write a reflection on a article.
All Blacks Break World Record
The All Blacks have produced 50 minutes of sublime rugby to beat Australia 54-34 in the opening game of the 2017 Rugby Championship.
The All Blacks were in rampant mood from the outset, scoring 6 tries in the opening half and 2 in the second. The result means that the NZ side has all but secured the Bledisloe Cup for another year.
A number of records were broken on the night. They broke the highest points tally against Australia. The previous highest points total against Australia was 42, a record which was set last year. It is also the most tries scored against Australia in the first half of a test match
All Black try scorers in the first half were Liam Squire, Rieko Ioane (x2), Ryan Crotty (x2),Sonny Bill-Williams.
In the second half Australia played with more conviction, scoring a trio of well taken tries. However, the All Blacks were still dangerous with Mackenzie and Ben Smith adding to the All Blacks try telly.
The next game is against Australia in Dunedin next week.

White Koala Born At Australian Zoo

IALT: Write a reflection On a article.
White Koala
A rare white koala has been born at Australia Zoo in Queensland.
She is not albino. Keepers at the zoo say her fur is due to a recessive gene inherited from her mother Tia, who has given birth to other pale joeys baby koalas in the past.
In science it’s often referred to as the ‘silvering gene’ where animals are born with white or very pale fur.  Just like baby teeth, they eventually shed their baby fur and the regular adult colour comes through.
At this stage the zoo is looking for a name. So far social media has come up with suggestions including Snowflake, Pearl, Sugar, Lily, Snow White and Baringa, which means “dawn” or “light” in the aboriginal language, for a name.
Koalas have been under increasing threat across the Southern Hemisphere nation in recent decades due to bushfires, disease, dog attacks and loss of habitat.

Police Guinea Pig Mascot Dies

IALT: Write a reflection on an article.
Police Guinea Pig
The New Zealand police’s much-loved guinea pig mascot has died.
“Constable Elliot” – with his own blue uniform similar to that worn by our Kiwi cops – was revealed earlier this year as the latest recruit teaching Kiwis to drive slowly.
But police announced some sad news on Twitter yesterday.
“It’s with great sadness that we announce Constable Elliot’s passing #constableelliot #rip #nzpolice #safercommunitiestogether.”
Elliot was based with the Wellington Police team.
Constable Elliot urged motorists to slow down when driving, in particular near schools.
“Remember people, the kids are going to be out and about walking and biking and crossing roads.
“Like me they are small and unpredictable so you have to watch out.”

Typhoon Hato Hits Hong Kong

IALT: Write a reflection about an article I read.
Typhoon Hits Hong Kong!!
The worst typhoon in five years has slammed into Hong Kong, hitting it with hurricane force winds and heavy rain.
The devastating storm caused more than 400 flights to be cancelled and most businesses have been closed.
Nearly 200 trees have been uprooted, blocking roads, and cars have been left under water and roads flooded.
Metre-high waves crashed onto the shores and construction cranes swayed on skyscrapers in Hong Kong.
Many people have been injured, and the same typhoon, Hato, has killed three people in the neighbouring region of Macau.
The storm has since moved on to the southern Chinese mainland.

Black Ferns Into World Cup Final

IALT: Write a reflection based on an article I read.

Black Ferns In World Cup

The Black Ferns have beaten USA 45-12 to progress to the World Cup final.
The Black Fern were too strong over the course of the match and deserved their victory. However, coach Glenn Moore  said while it was satisfying to reach the final they made too many errors around the breakdown and coughed up possession too often on their way to their 45-12 win.
Winger Portia Woodman scored four tries in the match and is the tournament’s leading try scorer on 13.
Woodman said there was a noticeable increase in intensity being a semi final and the Americans physicality never let up.

Woodman will now be playing in her first world cup final on Sunday morning.
The final will be played on  Saturday at the Kingspan Stadium in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Technology Reflection

IALT: Write reflection about what I did at technology.

At technology we had to do a work sheet. It was hard because there was a picture and we had to try and find all the safety hazards. And when I was doing it I found something challenging. And what I found challenging is when I had try and find all the safety hazards because there were not many safety hazards on the picture. And when we finished that we had to move on and try and name the kitchen supplies. Then after that we had to show it to the teacher so he can see what we done. Then the bell rang for lunch so we had to head to the bus and get back to school and play outside. Well that is all I have for you.

Thank you.

Total Solar Eclipse Over America

IALT: Write a reflection about an article.

One of the most spectacular space sights visible from the Earth swept across the US on Monday.
Millions of people enjoyed an incredible total solar eclipse.
A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon moves in between the Earth and the Sun, blocking out the Sun’s light and plunging areas of the Earth into darkness.
It was called the Great American Eclipse, as the shadow cast on the Earth by the Moon fell directly onto America – so this was the best place to watch the eclipse.
It’s the first total solar eclipse the US has experienced since 1979, and the US’s first coast to coast solar eclipse since 1918.
During the total solar eclipse there’s a noticeable drop in temperature as the sun disappears. The darkness lasts for about two to three minutes.
Eclipse watchers are advised to wear special glasses and to avoid looking directly at the sun, to avoid eye damage.
The next coast-to-coast total solar eclipse will not be until 2045.

KiwiCan Reflection

IALT: Write a reflection based on what I did at Kiwi can.

Hi everyone at kiwi can I learned two new games and they were. Mat Dodgeball and Tag The Master. Mat Dodgeball is when you sit on the floor and the number one's go up and you have to try and get them out just by rolling the ball onto the ground. And Tag The Master is when you have to verse someone that is wearing a rippa rugby tag and you have to try and take it of them. And if you take it of them then it is your turn. But if you don't you have to go and sit back down. Then after that we had a little talk about what our theme was for this term and it was self control. And self control means that you have to control your anger and your feelings. So we talked about that self control then after that we talked about our emotions and emotions are feelings inside you. And emotions can sometimes take over you. Then after the talk we started to do our activity which was Mat Dodgeball. Then we finished our lesson for the day so we came back to class. Well that is all I have for you.

Thank you.

KiwiSport Reflection

IALT: write a reflection about what we did at kiwisport

Hi everyone at kiwisport we did Hip Hop. And it was cool because we were in groups and we were trying to come up with a dance routine like choreography. Choreography is when you practise your dance moves bit by bit. And that is different to freestyle because freestyle is when you do any dance. But back to what I was talking about. We had to come up with a dance routine and my group was thinking of one and we got our dance routine. And our dance routine goes The Smurf then Janet jackson then last and not least the Alf. Then after that we had to sit on the mat so each group can go up and show us their dance routine. But my group did not go up but we will next week. Well that is all I have for you.

Thank you.

Cinquain Poem

WALT: Write a Cinquain Poem

Hi everyone I have made a Cinquain Poem and it is about basketball. I like doing Cinquain Poem because it has syllables. It goes 2, 4, 6, 8 then 2 syllables. Because that is the rules in the Cinquain Poem. What I liked about this is when I had to try and figure the syllables for our topic but my one is about basketball. But what I found challenging is when thinking about a syllable. But what i'm going to do next time is that i'm going to think harder so I can finish my work on time.

CyberSmart - FootPrint Map

IALT: write a reflection on what we did on cybersmart

Hi everyone last week on cybersmart we learned how to do our own digital footprint map. It was cool because what we had to do was look on our history. Then we had to look for the images on what we did from monday. It was hard because we had to look up the images and put it on our drawing. But what I found challenging is that when I had to add the footprints. I had to do it in a circle. And the reason why it was hard because I had to keep on copying and pasting it. But the helps me to be more quicker next time. Then after that we had to check it with the teacher. Well that is all I have for you today.

Thank you.

CyberSmart - Digital Footprint

WALT: Be positive on social media. Because we can leave some digital footprints behind.

Hi everyone last week on Tuesday we had cybersmart. And we were talking about digital footprint. That is when you go online and text your friend. And while you are texting your friend and you swear at them or call them names. And you want to delete the message you can't because you and your friend can see it. And that is called digital footprint. And when you leave something up but it won't delete. Like when you post something but it won't come down. The lady that came and took our cyber smart class is Miss Shearing. And she is going to be here tomorrow on Tuesday to tell us more about what to do online. By the way last week on tuesday we had to make a poster about some good advice based on when you go online. Well that is all I have for you.

Thank you.

🕺KiwiSport Reflection🕺

IALT: learn more dance moves.

Hi everyone at kiwi sport we did Hip Hop. Hip Hop has four elements and they are Graffiti, Rap, DJ and Break dancing. Hip Hop was made in New York/USA. It was made in 1973. Hip Hop was created by the Latinos and African American. They created Hip Hop because they felt repressed. And they wanted to express themselves. So they created Hip Hop. We learned two dance moves last week and they were called the smurf and James Brown shuffle. But this week we learned the Janet Jackson and the Alf. The dances the I named are called Social Dancing. The dance moves are very cool but you might not get it right. But if you practice you will get it right. The one that I like is the James Brown shuffle because it is smooth. But what I found challenging is when we had to do the moves all together. Our Instructor's name is Jasmine. She is a very cool instructor because she is funny.

Well that is all I have for you.
Thank you For reading.

World Record Free For Neymar

WALT: write a reflection about what we read.

Brazilian footballer Neymar is apparently leaving Barcelona for a world record transfer fee.
The Spanish club has confirmed that he’s leaving with reports that he’s heading to French team Paris Saint-Germain for 354 million dollars.
Neymar signed a new contract to 2021, which had a buy-out clause of around 195 million dollars.
At this stage there are some issues with the transfer.
Under the fair play rules a club’s wage bill must not exceed 70 per cent of its revenue. Neymar will be reported earning around 40 million pound a year in wages.
Neymar signed for Barcelona from Brazilian side Santos for 91 million dollars, although it was later revealed the cost was closer to 160 million.

New Zealands Top Pies

WALT: Write a reflection about what I read.

New Zealand’s best pie in the land has been announced – a venison, mushroom, bacon and cheese pie.
Baked by Taupo-based Lee Ing from Fast & Fresh Bakery, his creation beat 5696 other entries to unanimously take out the 2017 NZ Bakels Supreme Award.
NZ Bakels managing director Brent Kersel said, “The winning pie first caught our attention when it won gold in the Gourmet Meat category before going onto the final judging stage,”
“It looked great out of the oven, pastry rich and golden with the filling venison, mushroom, bacon and cheese combining well together.
“The venison had great flavour and texture.”
Mr Ing bought the bakery just over a year ago after working there for two years and learning all his skills from the previous owner.
“I can’t believe I won an award, I didn’t expect that,” he says.
Entries this year were up by 10 percent with the two largest categories being Kiwi classics, Mince and Cheese, and Steak and Cheese.

Year 8 Old Breaks Kilimanjiro Record

WALT: Write a reflection about the article

An 8 year old named Roxy Getter has become the youngest girl to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro.
Roxy and her family, including her 10-year-old brother Ben, USA, tackled the 19,341-foot mountain earlier this month during a family vacation to Tanzania.
They had originally intended to sign up for a safari when a friend suggested they look into hiking up Mount Kilimanjaro.
The family has also never done an overnight camping trip before, and ended up spending nearly a week on the mountain.
Roxy spoke in a video on the day she completed the hike. “I made it up and that was hard. I was so tired. I could barely even walk,” she said. The same video shows their first day, where her mom Sarah comments that the tent was “a bit chilly.” The temperature was only seven degrees at the top.

Fitness / Cross Country

WALT: Be fit and practice for the cross country

Hi everyone Room 9 and Room 10 have been doing fitness outside of our school. Because we want to be fit. And we are practicing for cross country. When we practice for cross country we run around the block by our school. But we practise every two days. Because we are trying to get use to running the block. I almost made it to the end but I stop halfway because I had a very bad stitch because I ate before I ran. And never do that because you can have really bad. But next time I run the block I am not going to eat before I run. I am just going to eat nothing before I run the block. That is all that I have for you.

Thank you.
